Personal Year Number Calculator
Your numerology year on the nine-year cycle, for this year or any year, with the arithmetic shown.
How it is calculated
The personal year is the simplest number in numerology: birth month plus birth day plus the calendar year, reduced to one digit. Someone born 14 March, in 2026, gets 3 + 14 + 2026 = 2043, and 2 + 0 + 4 + 3 = 9. Most practitioners reduce all the way to 1–9 here and do not keep 11 or 22, because the cycle is defined as nine years long; a few do keep them, so the calculator flags when the pre-reduced sum was 11 or 22.
Because the year advances by one each January, your personal year also advances by one each year, cycling 1 through 9 and back to 1. That is the whole system: nine themes in order, starting fresh every nine years.
The nine years
| Year | Theme as usually read |
|---|---|
| 1 | Beginnings. Start things, act alone, plant. |
| 2 | Patience, partnership, waiting for what was planted. |
| 3 | Expression, social life, creative output. |
| 4 | Work, structure, health, the unglamorous foundation. |
| 5 | Change, travel, freedom, restlessness. |
| 6 | Home, family, responsibility, service. |
| 7 | Study, solitude, inner work. |
| 8 | Money, authority, harvest, consequences. |
| 9 | Endings, clearing out, completion before the next 1. |
Calendar year or birthday year?
Numerologists disagree on when a personal year begins. The calendar convention (January 1) is the one most books use and the one this page calculates. The birthday convention says the energy of the new number arrives on your birthday and the months before it are a blend. If you follow the second, read the calendar result for the months after your birthday and the previous year's number for the months before; the calculator prints both.
Personal year numbers are interpretive, with no predictive evidence behind them. They are a way to frame a year, and plenty of people find that useful on its own terms. For your fixed numbers see the life path and expression calculators.
